TC 00:02:00:00 — THE MONEY

How Much Do Clippers Make?

There is no salary survey for clippers, and anyone quoting you an average is guessing. What is real is the pay model. Your income as a clipper is decided less by talent than by which of the three models you work under, and how much volume you can hold at quality.

Model one: pay per view

Campaign platforms pay per thousand views. A clip that takes off earns well. A clip that lands flat earns close to zero, no matter how good the edit was. The platform carries no risk; you carry all of it. This model rewards volume and trend-chasing, and it punishes careful work on smaller shows.

Model two: flat rate per clip

Agencies and direct clients pay a fixed rate per approved clip. The rate for simple caption cuts sits at the low end; editors who select moments, clean audio, and design captions command more. The income is predictable: rate times approved clips. The catch is the approval bar, a clip that fails QC earns nothing until it is fixed.

Model three: retainers and salaries

A small number of clippers sit on monthly retainers with one creator or a media team. This is the steadiest income and the hardest to get, because the creator is buying reliability, not clips. You reach it after months of never missing a deadline.

How ClipHaus pays

ClipHaus uses the flat-rate model. Your per-clip rate is set with you before your first job and recorded on your account. The money is earned the moment an admin passes your clip at QC, not when you upload it, and payouts are batched and exported per cycle, so every paid clip traces back to a QC pass.

Rates differ per editor because judgment differs. An editor who can be trusted with a finance podcast, where one wrong number in a caption is a real problem, earns more than a generalist. Rates are reviewed as the work proves out.

What moves your number

  • Turnaround. Same-day delivery is worth a premium everywhere.
  • Niche knowledge. Business, finance, and health shows pay for accuracy, not just cuts.
  • Caption quality. Typos in captions are the fastest way to get dropped.
  • Reliability. Editors who never miss quietly get the best shows.
