Podcast Clipping
Podcast clipping is an editorial job wearing a video job’s clothes. The edit is the easy half. The value is in listening like an editor: for the forty seconds a stranger would stop scrolling for.
Finding the moment
- Stories with a turn: it was working, then it was not, then this happened.
- Numbers that sound wrong until explained.
- Disagreement, even friendly, between host and guest.
- The sentence the guest says quietly after the polished answer.
One idea per clip
A clip that makes two points makes none. If a moment contains two good ideas, that is two clips. The discipline feels wasteful and is the entire difference between a highlights reel and clips people finish.
Captions are design
On a podcast clip, captions are not accessibility garnish, they are the typography of the piece: placement, size, emphasis, timing. Proof them like copy, because for most viewers they are the copy: read on a train, on mute, at a glance.
The QC pass
Every clip we ship passes a second pair of eyes against a fixed checklist: hook in the first two seconds, captions exact, audio clean, framing right, nothing in the clip the guest would regret out of context. That last item is why a human studio, not a bulk tool, should be cutting a business show.
